Introduction to creating and editing custom dashboards in CARMA Social
In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to create and edit custom dashboards in CARMA Social. Whether you want to clone an existing dashboard or build one from scratch, follow these simple steps to create your perfect social dashboard.
1. Accessing CARMA Social
To get started, navigate to the Social section in the main menu, then select Professional to access the CARMA Social homepage.
2. Creating a New Dashboard
You have two options when creating a new dashboard: cloning an existing dashboard or building one from scratch.
Cloning an Existing Dashboard
- Click on the Action Icon at the top right of an existing dashboard and select Clone Dashboard.
- You will need to assign a Unique ID and Dashboard Name for the new dashboard.
- The unique ID will be used in the URL and must consist of alphanumeric characters and underscores.
- After entering the unique ID and name, click Submit to create your cloned dashboard.
- You will then be directed to the cloned dashboard, where you can begin editing and making changes.
Creating a Dashboard from Scratch
To create a brand-new dashboard:
-
Under the dashboard navigation menu, select Create New Dashboard.
-
Enter a Unique ID, choose your Dashboard Name, and set the Permission Level.
There are three permission levels:
- Public – Only Me: The dashboard is visible to all project users, but only you can edit it.
- Public – All Admins: The dashboard is visible to all project users, and other project admins can edit it.
- Private: The dashboard is only accessible to you.
Once you've selected the permission level, you're ready to start adding widgets to your dashboard.
3. Adding Widgets to Your Dashboard
Widgets are the interactive charts, filters, or KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) that form the backbone of your social dashboard.
- Scroll down the page to view the available widgets.
- You can search for a specific widget using the Search Bar or filter by a Specific Channel to make your search easier.
For example, let’s say you want to create a dashboard focused on your mentions on X (formerly Twitter):
- Click on the X logo to display the available widgets for this channel.
- Hold down the Shift Key and select multiple widgets to add them all at once, or select them individually for more detailed editing.
- Once you’re satisfied with your selection, click Add Widgets.
Tip: Adding widgets individually allows you to access additional editing options (such as widget name, size, and chart type) before saving. However, you can always edit widgets later as well.
4. Editing Widgets
Once your widgets are added, they will appear in the Selected Widgets section. From here, you can edit or delete any widget as needed.
- Click Edit on a widget to modify parameters such as Name, Size, and Chart Type.
- Note that the editable options will change depending on the type of widget you’re editing. Experimenting with different widgets will help you get familiar with the platform’s capabilities.
- When you're happy with your edits, click Save.
5. Viewing Your Dashboard
After adding and customizing your widgets, click Save and Close to view your new dashboard. Welcome to your custom social dashboard!
6. Arranging and Styling Your Dashboard
Now that your dashboard is set up, you can arrange and style it to suit your needs using the buttons at the top-right corner of each widget:
- Move Icon: Drag the widget to rearrange its position.
- Resize Icon: Adjust the size of the widget.
- Chart Type Icon: Change the chart type for a different visualization of the data.
- Actions Icon: Export, copy, edit, or remove the widget.
7. Editing and Adding Widgets
To add more widgets or make further changes, click on the Actions Button at the top right of the dashboard page, then select Edit Dashboard. This will take you back to the original dashboard setup page, where you can continue adding or editing widgets as needed.
