Newsletters: How to create Newsletters
In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the steps to create a newsletter template from scratch. This will allow you to customize and structure your newsletters exactly how you want them, making it easy to manage your content. Follow the steps below to get started.
1. Accessing the Newsletters Page
First, navigate to the Newsletters page under the Reporting Tools section in the main navigation menu. This will bring you to the Newsletter Homepage, where you can create, edit, and schedule newsletters.
2. Creating a New Template
To create a new newsletter template:
- Click the New Template button.
- Enter a Template Name for internal use.
- Select a Base Template to start with (you’ll also find any previously saved templates here).
- Once you’re ready, click Create Template to move on to the next step.
3. Setting Up Newsletter Sections
You will now be taken to the Sections page, where you can start building and editing the sections of your newsletter template.
Editing a Section:
- Click the Cog Icon on the first section to open the settings.
- Give the section a Name and choose the Metadata Placeholders you want to include (these can be modified later if needed).
- Next, click the Filters tab to refine the content for that section. You can filter by criteria such as:
- Specific Search
- Outlets
- Sentiment
- Tags
- Countries
Once you’re happy with your selections, click Save Section.
Adding Additional Sections:
To add more sections, click Create Section and follow the same steps to customize each one.
Once all your sections are complete, click Next to move on to the layout editor.
4. Editing the Newsletter Layout
In the Newsletter Edit section, you can customize the layout and style of your template. Here are the basics:
Components:
- On the Left-hand Side, you will see the available components for your newsletter, including Articles, Images, and Chart Blocks.
- Components can be added by dragging and dropping them from the right-hand side into your layout.
Editing Components:
- Once placed, you can edit each component’s style and filters by clicking the Pencil Icon on the component.
While there are many options for customizing the design, layout, and content in this section, you don’t need to master everything right now. For more advanced details, you can refer to another tutorial dedicated to newsletter layout and design.
5. Saving Your Newsletter Template
Once you’ve arranged your sections and components, and you’re satisfied with the layout, click Save as Draft to save your work.
